Some families work their way into your heart before you even realize it. By the time Jillian’s wedding day arrived, I already knew this family well. I had the honor of photographing two of her sisters before her, and walking into this Riverdale Manor summer wedding felt like coming home. Jillian and Jack brought every bit of the joy, warmth, and love I have come to know from this family, and then some.
Getting Ready at Riverdale Manor
Riverdale Manor sets the stage beautifully from the very first moment. The white porch, the lush trees, and the warm light filtering through the windows created the perfect backdrop for an afternoon full of anticipation. Jillian’s mom helped her into her gown on the porch, and the joy on Jillian’s face said everything. Meanwhile, Jack and his guys got ready with the kind of easy laughter that tells you this group has shown up for each other for a long time.
The Ceremony
The ceremony pavilion at Riverdale Manor is stunning, with its exposed beams, string lights, and lush greenery just beyond the open sides. Jack stood at the altar and watched Jillian walk toward him flanked by both of her parents. The look on his face was one I will not forget. The floral arch behind them, by Pinewood and Posies, framed their first kiss as husband and wife perfectly.
Jack’s face when he saw Jillian for the first time was one of those moments that stops you in your tracks. The emotion was written all over him, and Jillian’s smile in response was pure joy. These two had shared private vows the night before, and you could feel the weight of that in the most beautiful way. Having watched this family celebrate milestone after milestone, this moment felt especially meaningful to witness.
A Wedding Party Worth Celebrating
The bridal party at this Riverdale Manor summer wedding was genuinely one of the most supportive, fun groups I have had the pleasure of photographing. Sage green dresses, colorful blooms from Pinewood and Posies, and black tuxedos from The Black Tux made for a stunning visual. More than that, every single person there was fully present and fully celebrating. That kind of energy starts at the top, and it showed in this family.
Portraits Around the Grounds
Riverdale Manor gives so much to work with. From the backyard lined with old trees to the gazebo lit up with string lights at dusk, every corner of the property added something to their gallery. Jillian’s veil caught the breeze beautifully, and the two of them were so natural together. Jack spoke about Jillian with so much love, and it shows in every single frame.
The Reception
The reception was full of toasts, tears, laughter, and dancing. The father-daughter dance brought the room to a standstill. The toasts brought happy tears. Then the dance floor opened and people never looked back. This was the kind of reception where the love in the room is just that good. For a family I have watched celebrate and grow over the years, it was a privilege to be there for one more chapter.
