I have been overly excited about this wedding, couple, and venue since they asked me to be their photographer!! Each piece was so unique and special to them that it was going to be like no other one I had captured before! Green lantern was the ringbearer. It was held at Aldie Mansion, an incredibly gorgeous venue tucked back off the main road. The bridesmaids sang the theme song to Star Wars as we photographed them walking across the lawn. I could go on and on.
Everything was going so perfectly, and we were having such a great time, until all of a sudden the skies decided to open up!! Surprise, surprise, after the summer we have already been having (haha!). We were able to just squeak in the family formals as it started to drizzle, and that was the last time we were able to be outside. I was so excited and had so many plans for photographs of the bride and groom around the grounds of the mansion prior to the ceremony and during sunset photos, but sometimes, it just doesn’t work out how you plan.
These two were so calm and accepting of everything. They had no issue making the call to move it inside because they knew the location wasn’t the main thing; it was that they were getting MARRIED! You want to know what, though? I think the ceremony felt even more intimate than if it had been outdoors at the planned location. Inside, everyone was focused on Tommy and Jillian, and there was a true silence as everyone watched with smiles on their faces (and a few tears in their eyes). It’s so easy to get caught up in the perfect locations and lighting on the wedding day, but this wedding reminded me that what I am truly there for is to capture the love these two have for each other as they become husband and wife. To capture the love their family and friends share, as they witness the I Dos. To capture the joy, happiness, and support when it is all over, and the celebration begins. We may not have been able to use every location I had scouted out, but that doesn’t matter, the thing that matters is that in each photo you can see happiness, love, commitment, and joy that everyone shared on their wedding day!
Tommy and Jillian, thank you not only for allowing me to be a part of your day or for allowing me to meet all of your amazing family and friends, but most importantly, for reminding me what I love about this job. I want to create photos that capture not only the physical environment but also all the emotions throughout the day, so you can go back and look over those images and remember each moment and the feelings you had on your wedding day. I hope you to the absolutely best and hope these photos will always remind you about the day and everything that happened as you married your best friend. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Golightly!
