Sometimes as I start these blog posts, I stop and try to think about what words pop into my head to describe the day. The couple. The atmosphere. Or a specific moment. Then, I can build from there and try to recreate the experience for you as you read the post. Sometimes I struggle; I notice myself coming up with the same words, even though there are more that I can touch on.
But for Lauren and JD’s wedding? That was not the case at all! The three words that instantly come to my mind about their day on Saturday at the stunning Pond View Farm in Maryland, are these.
Joy. Christ-Centered. Party.
These three words shined through in every aspect of their day! From the smiles as the bridesmaids saw Lauren in her dress for the first time to the incredible dance party to end the night, each moment was cherished and savored. Nothing was taken for granted. These two were so filled with joy to be finally marrying the other and starting their new life together as one, with God in the center of it all!
I was so blessed to meet these two and have the privilege of capturing this special day for them!
One moment that I will always hold dear to my heart is the moment these two shared a prayer together. As we were nearing the end of bride and groom portraits, Lauren and JD wanted to take a moment and pray together before they got married. Lauren sat in a chair along the edge of the pond, and JD knelt down beside her. The branches of the willow tree swaying back-and-forth above them. We all went silent and stepped back. Giving them a moment together. They wanted to take the time to thank God for all He had done in their lives and to thank him for all that He had ahead of them.
Lauren and JD wanted God at the center of every decision they made together.
It was so special to watch this moment unfold. It made me rethink the vows my husband and I made. How we, too, wanted God as the third piece in our marriage. We all watched in silence. Smiles across all of our faces. I was so thankful. Thankful for all that God had done for me so far in my life. And thankful for placing me in this moment. To see these two asking him into their marriage.
It is a moment I will always hold on to.
These two are so strong in their beliefs, and they are also so full of life and happiness. Their reception is one to remember! I stepped out of the barn to go grab a drink of water at the bar, and the biggest smile never left my face. Inside you could hear nonstop singing at the top of people’s lungs, laughter, and just so much happiness. These people knew how to celebrate! I love each one of my HMP Couples. But more importantly, I love seeing all of the love and happiness pouring out from their friends and family that are there celebrating!
Lauren and JD, I am beyond happy for you two! I am so happy our paths crossed, and I was able to capture every moment of your wedding day for you! I pray that you two have an incredible marriage and always keep God at the forefront. You two are incredible people, and I cannot wait to see where He takes you! Thank you for an incredible day! You two truly deserve all the happiness in the world!
