After a spring season filled with open fields and golden light, Deanna and Dennis’s Lancaster City engagement session was a refreshing—and incredibly fun—change of pace. We swapped tall trees for cozy corners and local charm, and it was the perfect backdrop to capture their playful energy and romantic connection.
As their photographer, I love creating experiences that feel natural and personal, and this session truly felt like stepping into their love story.
Starting at Proof of Lancaster
We kicked things off underground at Proof of Lancaster, a moody and romantic bar that felt like the perfect setting for something stylish and intimate. Deanna wore the cutest white dress with bows on the shoulders, and Dennis rocked a patterned suit jacket that totally complemented the sophisticated vibe. The lighting, the atmosphere, the chemistry? It was all magic.
Bright Vibes at Shot and Bottle
Next, we headed to Shot and Bottle, a more cheerful, vibrant bar right in the heart of the city. The contrast between the two spaces gave us a ton of visual variety, and Deanna and Dennis made it all look effortless. They even brought a custom cake with their wedding date on it, which we had the best time incorporating into their photos—seriously, more couples should do this!
A Quick Change and Coffee at Café One Eight
After the bar stops, Deanna and Dennis changed into a more casual look—jeans and relaxed vibes—and we wrapped up the session at Café One Eight, one of the cutest coffee shops in Lancaster. It honestly felt like I was third-wheeling the most adorable date. We captured so many sweet, relaxed moments here that balanced out the earlier glam shots perfectly.
Oh—and did I mention the corgi? Midway through, we ran into a couple walking the most adorable corgi, and they let us snap a few shots with him. It was the most random and wonderful moment, and it totally added to the charm of the evening.
A Personal Highlight for Me
One of the most special things about this session? Deanna works for the Elvis Duran Show—a show I literally grew up listening to every morning on the way to school and work. My teenage self was having a full-on fangirl moment. To now be photographing her engagement and upcoming wedding? What a full-circle moment, and one I feel so honored to be a part of.
Deanna even brought a Pinterest board full of inspiration for their shoot. I love when my couples do this because it gives me a peek into their vision and helps me make sure we capture the moments and vibes that matter most to them. (And of course, I can’t help but add a few creative spins of my own!)
Why I Love Lancaster City Sessions
This Lancaster City engagement session reminded me just how much beauty can be found in everyday places. From local bars to charming coffee shops, city sessions allow couples to bring their personality into the photos in such a unique way. And with clients like Deanna and Dennis, who are down to explore and have fun with it all, the results are always something special.
If you’re dreaming of an engagement session that feels just like you—whether that’s bar hopping, coffee sipping, or city strolling—I’d love to help you plan it.
