Jennifer and Ben’s puppy-loving Overlook Park engagement session had everything I adore in a shoot: a sweet couple, a dreamy golden hour, and the cutest four-month-old golden retriever named Louie, who 100% stole the show.
As a photographer who loves helping couples feel confident and relaxed in front of the camera, I always say the best moments come when you’re simply having fun together, and this session was full of those little in-between giggles, gentle glances, and joy-filled moments that make love feel so real.
Louie, the Four-Legged Star
Let’s start with Louie. This sweet pup is only four months old, but you’d think he was a seasoned model with how well-behaved and photogenic he was! I may have squealed more than once at his fluffy cuteness. He brought such a lighthearted energy to the start of the session, and Jennifer and Ben were glowing as they cuddled their fur baby.
After Louie headed home with his grandma, it gave us space to really focus on the love between these two. It was such a joy to witness.
From Camera-Shy to Natural Connection
Jennifer and Ben described themselves as a little camera shy, but you would never know it from how effortlessly they connected on camera. With just a little bit of guidance (which I love giving all my couples!), they leaned into the moment and totally found their rhythm. I live for those quiet laughs and soft smiles that unfold when a couple starts to just be themselves.
Jennifer wore a beautiful, flowing floral dress that moved perfectly in the evening breeze. It popped just enough to feel special but still blended beautifully with the natural greens and tall grasses of Overlook Park. That dress, combined with the golden light and her sweet connection with Ben, made for pure photo magic.
Looking Ahead to Their Drumore Estate Elopement
Jennifer and Ben are planning an intimate elopement at Drumore Estate this August, and I truly cannot wait to see them again on their big day. Getting to know them during their puppy-loving Overlook Park engagement session made me even more excited for what’s ahead. I just know their wedding will be filled with intentional details, and heartfelt moments.
Why I Love Overlook Park for Engagement Photos
Overlook Park is one of my favorite local locations, open fields, soft trails, and just the right amount of nature-meets-simplicity. It’s especially perfect for couples who bring their pets along! There’s plenty of space for pups to run and for love to shine.
If you’re planning your own engagement session and want something that feels genuine, joyful, and true to you, whether you’re camera shy, bringing your dog, or dreaming of a little golden-hour glow, I’m your girl.
Ready to book your session? Reach out and let’s capture your love story.
XOXO ~ Heather Marie
