Wildflower Field Senior Session | Brynn Bennethum

May 30, 2025

Brynn’s wildflower field senior session was everything we hoped for—and getting there was nothing short of a journey. Between surprise storms, rescheduling, and a dash of wild weather luck, this session turned into a full-on May miracle.

The First Attempt: Weather Woes

Our original session date greeted us with the worst of Pennsylvania spring: cold, rain, heavy winds, and zero wildflowers in bloom. Brynn had her heart set on a flower field for her senior session, and while we gave it our best try, it was clear we’d need a redo.

We postponed, waited, and kept our eyes on one particular location that wasn’t supposed to open until May 26. But Brynn’s session was set for May 23. We were hopeful—but unsure. Then, as if the session was meant to be, a post went up that the field would be opening early! Cue the happy dancing and the last-minute location change.

The Forecast Looked Good…Until It Didn’t

The new date rolled around with a promising forecast: sunshine, a few clouds, and cooler temps (a major improvement from round one). At 4:30pm, I texted Brynn joking that “high winds just love you” because sure enough, the breeze was picking up again.

But at least it wasn’t raining…right?

Not 15 minutes later—downpour. No warning. Not even a blip on radar. I couldn’t believe it. I sent Brynn a video of the sheets of rain pouring down outside and started to feel the nerves creep in. But we held out hope—and I’m so glad we did.

The Dreamy Reality

The session location is just 12 minutes from my house, and when I arrived, everything was dry. And not only that—the skies were stunning. We had cloud coverage that softened the sun when it was harshest, allowing us to shoot from all angles of the field. Then, just in time for golden hour, the clouds parted and gave us a sky full of soft, dreamy color. It was magic.

Brynn’s outfit choices were the perfect complement to the setting: soft florals, light blues, and creamy whites that popped beautifully against the blooms. Despite the chilly wind (and a few laughs about freezing), she absolutely rocked it. Every image felt like a magazine moment.

About the Location

Wildflower Lookout is such a gem for senior photos. Wide open fields filled with blooms, tall grasses swaying in the wind, and endless angles that change with the light. It’s one of my favorite places to shoot, especially during peak bloom—it never disappoints.

A Spokesmodel Who Shines

Brynn is one of my 2025 HMP Senior Spokesmodels, and she truly brings so much joy, confidence, and light to every shoot. She trusted the process (even when it felt like Mother Nature was testing us!), and the results speak for themselves.

If you’re in the Class of 2026, and this kind of session makes your heart skip a beat—you’re in luck! Applications for next year’s HMP Senior Spokesmodel Team are open now through May 31st! You’ll get access to multiple photo sessions, fun events, a supportive team, and a chance to celebrate your senior year in style.

This wildflower field senior session was full of unexpected turns and total beauty—and I’m so thankful I got to share it with Brynn.
