There’s something so special about photographing senior sessions on family property. And this family farm senior guy session in Lancaster County with David reminded me exactly why I love it. The evening was peaceful, the light was perfect, and the whole experience felt so relaxed and genuine.
David’s session took place on his family’s farm, and from the moment I pulled in, I was in love with the setting: white barns, a rustic corn crib, weathered wood walls, and open fields stretching as far as the eye could see. We even had a pond to work with which gave us the most beautiful reflections as the sun started to dip low.
Quiet Confidence and Down-to-Earth Charm
David is one of those seniors who might be quiet at first, but you can tell right away how hardworking and grounded he is. He helps his dad take care of the chickens on the farm and is excited to step into the work world. Especially when it comes to heavy machinery. You can tell he’s proud of what his family does, and it made the session even more meaningful to capture it all right where he’s grown up.
His first outfit was a plaid green, gray, and black button-up with jeans. Classic, simple, and timeless. Later, he switched into a teal polo with light gray jeans that popped perfectly against the natural farm colors. Every backdrop, from the barns to the fields, fit his laid-back personality so well.
The Real Stars of the Farm
Of course, we can’t forget the cats! David’s family has three friendly farm cats who clearly thought they were the stars of the evening. They followed us everywhere, weaving between our feet and trying to join in for photos. We must have tripped over them a dozen times because they were determined to be part of the session. Honestly, I think they succeeded. Their little cameos were too cute to leave out.
Why I Love Photographing Senior Guys
This family farm senior guy session in Lancaster County reminded me just how much I enjoy photographing senior guys. There’s something refreshing about the simplicity, the genuine smiles, and the moments that happen naturally when they’re in their element.
David’s session was a perfect example, relaxed, real, and meaningful. No forced poses or stiff smiles. Just an evening full of personality, family roots, and a glimpse into the next chapter of his story.
