Nothing but the rain hitting the pavement could be heard. Silence had fallen over the officers as the flag ceremony commenced. All watched as the American flag was slowly raised up the flagpole. Slowly, one by one, each officer raised his hand to salute the flag! They stood silent. They stood proud.
No rain could stop these men from paying honor to this special moment, as VFW Post 7362 Charles Ludwig in New Holland, PA commemorated it’s new flag pole! It w
as quite the privilege to stand back and capture these moments for them!
Each one of these men served in the U.S. military at some point in their lives. Each one has a different story to tell. At this moment though, they all stood together. Proud to be an American! They made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and I was so honored to be asked to capture this special event. It was even more special because my dad and one of my grandfathers are officers at this Post. Â My other grandfather and my husband (and two of his brothers) also served, so seeing this and the respect they have for our flag was even greater! I am so proud of all they have done and so blessed that they are my family!
Although this is not a typical post for me, I am blessed to be able to share this with you all! You get a little glimpse of who my family is and what we are proud of! My family does several different military events throughout the year, and my dad just moved up to Vice President of that VFW Post, so these things are very important in our family, and every time I stand proud that they are MY FAMILY!
XOXO ~ Heather Marie
