It’s finally your wedding day! All you have worked for and designed and dreamt up is finally about to come to life for everyone to see!!! You put hours upon hours into make this day absolutely perfect for you two, and you deserve to have each moment saved, so you can look back on it! Each detail, flower, and special touch deserves to be remembered so that when your grandkids ask about you wedding day, you can show them everything you did!
One easy way to make sure some of your special details are captured at the beginning of the day is to have them all together for when your photographer arrives. Then they can easily sneak into another area while you finish getting ready and style each piece and give it the attention it deserves! So, here is a simple checklist of things to have ready for your photographer!
-
Veil/ Hair piece: The veil is a perfect backdrop to tie every detail together for your gallery, but is also a gorgeous accent to add to the wedding dress shots!
-
Rings: This is a must! These three pieces signify your marriage and are unique to every person! Make sure you have the groom’s ring, as well, so they can be styled and photographed together! (I promise to get the ring to the ringbearer or best man as soon as I finish. 🙂 )
-
Wedding shoes: You picked them for a reason. Whether to make you feel like a princess or to emphasize your style, they deserve to have some attention on your day! They also are perfect additions to an invitation suite…which leads me perfectly into number 4.
-
Invitation Suites: The invitations and save-the-dates are the first things your guests receive that give a glimpse of the colors and style for your wedding day! These are some of my favorite things to style and photograph at the beginning of the day! Pairing them with all your other details captures the style of your wedding day and pairs perfectly in blog posts!
-
Bouquet/ boutonnière: Ask your florist if they could have the flowers arrive at the same time as the photographer. That gives us a chance to photograph these pieces individually before they become your hands’ best friend. Bonus tip: Ask your florist to bring along extra petals so that we can use them in your invitation suite to completely tie everything together!
-
Jewelry: Other than your rings, I love to photograph your necklaces, earrings, and bracelets! Sometimes they have a special meaning behind them, but if not, they are still gorgeous and chosen for a reason!
-
Perfume: I love to encourage my brides to buy a perfume special to the wedding day. Don’t wear it until that day because then anytime you wear it after, it will make you think back to the day you married your best friend.
-
Dress: If we have time and space, I love to take the dress outside or hang it against a gorgeous door or wall and capture it in full, but also be sure to capture all of the details and intricacies on it, as well!
- Something borrowed/Something blue: Lastly, if you have either of these traditional pieces, the stories behind these items are always so personal, and I love to have the opportunity to photograph them, so you can share them with anyone else that knows the story!
Being able to captures these doesn’t take long, and years from now, it will be something you can look back on and fun to remember everything you picked and designed!
I can’t wait to see what details you have chosen for your special day!
XOXO ~ Heather Marie
