I have lived in Lancaster County all of my life. I have seen my fair share of cows driving the back roads, but they have pretty much always been the black and white ones. It took me until a senior reached out to photograph her highland cow senior session that I finally got introduced to these adorable animals!
Who knew we had them here!
Stepping onto the farm felt like I was stepping into another state. Hello, wild Wild West. The ground was covered in overgrown grasses. There were endless fence posts. And off in the distance, grazed one of the female cows. It was picturesque. We started the session with the baby highland cow, Bun-Bun!
My heart instantly fell in love!
Jocelyn was able to brush and feed her, and the candid photos we got are adorable! Bun-Bun was definitely unsure about things but did amazing. And Jocelyn’s outfits were on-point for the session backdrop. Her cowgirl boots and hat added to the western feel.
I couldn’t stop freaking out!
Part way through the session, she let me know she had been envisioning this session since she was a freshman. The farm is a family friend, and she knew she wanted her photos there. I don’t blame her; I would, too! I am just so thrilled I was the one to capture this dream for her. She was so patient and comfortable with the animals, and it paid off. The variety we were able to capture with the two cows is amazing!
This highland cow senior session will be saved in my favorites forever.
Jocelyn, you nailed your senior session. From the look to the location, your vision truly came to life. I hope it was everything you dreamed of. I’m so excited for you and your senior year. Enjoy every minute of it and just soak it all in! You have so many more exciting things ahead but don’t wish this time away.
XOXO ~ Heather Marie
