One of My Most Embarrassing Moments in My Business!!

Feb 12, 2019

When I say I am a people pleaser, I don’t take that phrase lightly at all when it comes to wedding days or just everyday life. I’m so much a people pleaser that, even on my wedding day, my main goal was to make sure that everyone else had a great time because I knew that I was marrying the man of my dreams, so I wanted to make it a great day for everyone else that sacrificed time to be there. So on your wedding day, you know that I am literally going to give my all to make sure you have the best day possible. How you ask? On your wedding day, you’ll find me covered in sweat, with thorns stuck all over my clothes, while I am inevitably carrying some miscellaneous item.

Because on your wedding day, I won’t stop, to the point that I am drenched in sweat because I will run back-and-forth, over and over, to get you anything and everything you need, so you don’t need to move a muscle.

Don’t believe me? I think this may change your mind! One of my most embarrassing, but most telling, stories of this trait was at one of my weddings this past fall on September 2nd at Cameron Estate Inn. We were having one of the hottest days of the Fall with very high humidity, and I am a person that, unfortunately, sweats a lot once it starts. So I had a maroon dress on for the day, and we were doing good on time the whole day, but sometimes, there were just things that were forgotten, like the bouquet or going to get the bridal party for their photos or finding the family for the formal photos before the ceremony…just a bunch of things that I wanted to make sure the bride and groom didn’t have to do. In addition, there were several times when I wanted to make sure my couple was in perfect light but that then meant that I would have to be in the beating sun. I had noticed myself wiping my forehead but thought I had been covering it up pretty well. In actuality, I wasn’t covering it up at all because by the time of the ceremony, my dress had changed into a completely darker color due to the sweat, and my bangs were pinned back for the remainder of the day! Yes, you read that right, I had to walk around the ceremony, in front of all of their guests, with an almost soaked dress!
Growing up, this would have defeated me. I would have not done as much to stop the sweat before it even started! But now? Now I’m not ashamed! It shows how much I care about each couple!

So when my couples need something, I do everything in my power to give it to them. To take care of them. To take care of you. Because this? This is your day, and my couples don’t just get photos unlike any other…they get an experience full of love, care, and devotion unlike any other. They are an HMP couple, and HMP couples deserve everything and more.

So yes, it may be a very embarrassing story for myself, but I think it’s also really telling of who I am and that, on your day, I am going to make sure that all you have to focus on is marrying your best friend and enjoying it with family and friends that you invited.
I did learn though, to always bring an extra outfit in case! 🙂
XOXO~ Heather Marie
