I think I may ALWAYS be surprised when this blog post comes around because it means we have gone through another month! As summer slowly draws to an end (I can’t believe I just typed those words), and kids head back to school, hopefully this post can be a little pick-me-up for all you brides out there! We are talking all things wedding makeup today with two amazing girls from Shades of Blush Studio!!

Now I am going to be totally honest, I do not wear makeup, like at all!

Just something I really never got into, and I am happy with who I am and what God gifted me with. But on my wedding day, I knew I wanted to up my game just a little and have a little extra pop for the photos. Nothing too crazy but a little something-something! And I am honestly so glad I did!! There is just something about having makeup on (even if its just a little) that makes all of your features look absolutely incredible on your wedding day! So, for all you brides out there that are like me.

I feel you!

But trust me, it is so worth it!! And these two incredible ladies at Shades of Blush are incredible at keeping the makeup looking so natural and at truly showing off your BEST self! Each part just emphasizes who you already are and makes you so proud and happy of the woman you are! And I’m sure your husband will love the surprise when he sees you for the first time!! 😉 So just give it a chance and see all the amazing information they have for you below!

XOXO ~ Heather Marie

Preparing for your big day can feel overwhelming; but, we’re here to lend you guidance on how to lock down your look, and have peace of mind that you will be your most beautiful self on your day of! I’m Kara from Shades of Blush Studio, my partner Andrea and I have each been doing makeup for over 10 years. We have a signature style of makeup, and a care for our clients that is one of a kind.

When you book with us, we simply want you to feel like the most beautiful version of you, and for your makeup to photograph in the best way possible.

Your first step is finding a Makeup Artist whose work you love, who makes you feel comfortable and confident, and who reflects your desired style. He or she should make you feel heard, and valued! It is SO important that you feel heard, and valued. Research their work and see how it photographs in professionally taken photos.

Secondly, book as far in advance as you can.

Brides are sometimes told to book 6 months in advance; and often, we cannot accommodate them if they request us that close to their date. If you want to secure your desired Makeup Artist it is smart not to wait! Even book a year in advance! Also, schedule a trial run. It’s good for you, and for the Makeup Artist. When you book a trial run your Makeup Artist will know precisely what to do. You will feel even more confident the morning of your wedding! Bring pictures to the trial, of Makeup looks that you love, and tell your Artist about the feel of your overall look.

Take good care of yourself, and your skin leading up to the big day. For the best results consult an esthetician on any major skin concerns that you have. Or even just ask them for advice on a good skin care regimen that you can start on. Diet, exercise, and water will do wonders for your skin, among many things.

For the day of, it is best to have a schedule of services!

If your wedding coordinator does create one, implement one for all hair and makeup services that day. This allows for the morning to flow smoothly; and it ensures you that everyone will be done in time for you to take photographs, prior to your walk down the aisle. If you have a desired look for your bridal party, let them know ahead of time; so they’ll be able to inform the Makeup Artist of what they’d like to have done. Or just inform the Makeup Artist so everyone is on the same page.

Most importantly, enjoy being pampered the morning of your wedding. It’s a time to relax and be taken care of before all the events of the day.
