A Sun-Filled, Joyful Winter Session at Overlook Park in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Jan 21, 2020

A snowy week. A rain forecasted day. But a beautifully lit engagement session.

Brielle and Zack are from out-of-state, so scheduling their engagement session was very limited on options. We had to find a date that they would be coming up to see family, before their wedding in April 2020. We easily got the date set and the location picked and were ready for their session.
But one thing you can’t have ready for an outdoor session?

The weather.

The whole week leading up to the session was forecasted with everything but sunshine. Tuesday into Wednesday, we had a big snow storm, and then Friday was forecasted to be nonstop rain.

Since they are out-of-state, we couldn’t just simply reschedule the session, so we were back-and-forth with different ideas for indoor locations. I felt so bad that their outdoor winter session they had hoped for was slowly slipping away. But as Thursday afternoon came, the rain ever so carefully began to slide back later and later for the start time. Brielle emailed me and said they wanted to go for it and stick with the outdoor location. You definitely know that I wasn’t going to argue with that!

I love me some natural light.

And to say that we had a beautiful golden hour would be an understatement. There were still minimal clouds in the sky, but the light softly peaked through and lit the back of their heads up perfectly. Each minute creating a softer glow.

Zack and I actually went to school together. So it was even more special to me to provide them with the session they had planned for. These two are just so right for one another! Constant giggles. Hands interlocked together. And contagious smiles. Pieces that filled their entire session. And trust me, I am not complaining at all. I was lucky enough to capture it all and be able to share their love with them through these photos (and so many more) so that they could always look back and remember this special day.

And remember the love they have always had for each other from the beginning.

A day that looked like it was going to be gloomy and dreary. But turned out to be joyful, bright, and sunny. A day they they’ll never forget. One that takes them one step closer to the day where they will become husband and wife. Brielle and Zack, you two are just so fun to be with. I love seeing you guys break out in a giggle almost every time you look at each other. It fills me with so much happiness and so much joy for what the future holds for you two. I can’t wait to capture more of this joy at your wedding at the beautiful Lakeview Farms. Until then, I need to figure out a way to bottle that all up and save it because, man, it makes you feel so good! I hope you see all of the happiness and joy in these photos like I do. I dare you to try and not smile while looking through them.

XOXO ~ Heather Marie
