God works in mysterious yet wonderful ways! That was definitely the case for this mint green Elizabeth Furnace wedding.
In more ways than one actually!
Let’s start back a year ago, almost exactly to the date of Meredith and Chris’s wedding day. I had been invited to an open house at Elizabeth Furnace, and when I first got the invite, I was very torn on if I was going to go or not. You see, it was the Sunday that we were supposed to be at our family vacation in the Outer Banks. Typically, we leave on that Saturday before, but I had a wedding, so Joel and I were planning to head down the following day early in the morning.
Did I want to miss even more of our beach vacation?
However, on the other hand, Elizabeth Furnace was a brand new wedding venue, and I had been specially asked by a planner to join the event. What a tough decision! Initially, if I’m being honest, I was leaning towards turning down the open house because I thought Joel was going to be upset about missing more vacation. I felt bad making him come along. His answer when I told him my predicament completely shocked me! He said that if it was something that was going to continually help my business then I should absolutely say yes!
How did I get so lucky?
Thank goodness I did say yes because Joel and I had the absolute best time meeting all of the other vendors, touring the stunning venue, and having the chance to meet the owner! Plus, that is the day I met Meredith and Chris! They walked up to my booth, and we instantly hit it off. It was so fun getting to know them and hearing a little about their wedding ideas. As they walked away I told Joel, “I really hope they reach out!” And you know what…
Not long after, they did!
If I hadn’t said yes to the open house these two may have never crossed my path. What a sad thought! I can’t help but step back and know that God had a hand in making sure I was there that day! The second incredible part to this story has to do with the wedding day. Sadly, like it often happens in Pennsylvania in the summer, their day was calling for chances of rain and thunderstorms.
Literally right up until the ceremony time.
Their timeline was planned out to do almost all of the formal photos prior to the ceremony as well. Talk about worst case scenario, if it was raining that whole time. Just like it called for, as the day began, so did the rain.
It was time to think of a backup plan.
Luckily, Elizabeth Furnace has a beautiful wrap around porch on the front of the house that we could use as our Plan B. As we were getting the girls ready to head outside with umbrellas in hand, I noticed that the sky had brightened up. I reached my hand outside and only a small drizzle hit me.
The rain was almost complete.
One and a half hours earlier than it was supposed to. Plenty of time to get all of the necessary photos in before the ceremony. It was truly a miracle! Meredith and Chris’s wedding ended up being a beautiful day. Filled with sunshine, love, and polka dancing! Who could ask for anything better! These two are the absolute sweetest, yet funniest people! They fit in perfectly as an HMP couple, and I am so thankful I went to that open house one year ago!
