Have your ever read the “Five Love Languages” book? The book walks you through the five different love languages and then provides a quiz for you to figure out which one you are. It is a great way to understand and connect with your spouse.
To love them in the way they receive it best!
My husband, Joel, and I did it, and our order of love languages are the complete opposite. It makes so much sense, but until we took the test, we had no clue. Now we can each surprise the other with little things that show them the “most” love.
At this point, you are probably thinking, Heather what does this have to do with taxes. I promise I’m getting there.Â
One of the love languages is gifts.
Some people feel the most loved when they are given a gift. Who doesn’t love a gift. Especially when it is a surprise!
As photographers, we often have it in our workflow to give our clients a gift either when they book us or right before their session. Just a small way to thank them for choosing you as their photographer and to help them get ready.Â
It is one of my favorite parts about my client experience! Why? Here are three reasons:
1. They are always so surprised when they receive it in the mail and are so thankful they chose me.
2. They share it on social media, which creates free marketing.
3. The expenses for the gift are a tax write-off!!!!
The last one is the cherry-on-top!
In this week’s YouTube video, I am continuing the tax write-off series and talking about client gifts and cost of goods. Both of these categories have specific requirements for an expense to fall under them, so make sure to head to the link below and check it out!Â
