One of my favorite things about engagement sessions is all the new places I get to explore. Sure, I have a good amount of locations that I frequent often, but when the couple emails me about a location that is meaningful to them, it makes the session even more special! And this week I had the privilege to shoot not one…but three new locations! The other two I’ll tell you all about tomorrow, but for now, let’s focus on the first one!

Yes! You read that right, we were at the Pennsylvania State Capitol! Sure, I had been there before for school field trips but never to just walk around. Man, have I been missing out! Especially along Front Street! Picture, endless flowers as you walked, beautiful blooming pink trees, gorgeous stairs leading up to the State Capitol…all while walking along the river!

These two often came into the city for food or just a day out walking around. They even had their first date at one of the local coffee shops. It was a perfect location for their engagement photos!

It had been cloudy most of the evening but was calling to clear up right around sunset! Sure enough, as we were at the State Capitol stairs, and I just had gotten the two of them into a sitting pose, I looked up to see the gorgeous golden hour light shining at the top. Instantly, I told them we had to go because, once the sun starts to set, it goes fast! We were able to just squeak in a few shots before it fell behind the clouds again.

Samantha and Brad, are such incredible people! Willing to do anything and just trusting me for the shot! I am so honored to have them as a HMP Couple! Brad was truly engaged to learn who I was. Asking questions about what I did, in regards to photography but also asking questions about my personal life, too! I love getting to know my couples, but I am truly blessed that so many care to get to know me!

A bonus, these two helped me name my expo disc! For those of you that have been photographed by me, that is the little black and white circle I carry with me everywhere to set my color temperature for each shot! For so long I have wanted to name it, but just couldn’t think of anything good! Well, it officially has a name. Everyone meet Po! It will always be with me on every shoot, so be on the look out!
