Right as we got into the car to head to the session, we could start to see the clouds rolling in. Then came the small droplets of rain. And just as we reached the parking lot, the skies opened up and started dumping.
Puddles began forming all around.
Although the forecast said it would stop in a couple minutes, I was a bit nervous! They had driven from Maryland for the session, and I would have felt terrible if it couldn’t happen. To be honest, I didn’t have high hopes we would be able to squeeze it in. The couple pulled in, and I yelled out of my window to just hang tight for a little bit and wait for it to pass. Luckily, we only had to wait a couple minutes for the rain to calm down. Excitedly, we all hopped out of the car’s and headed to our first spot, but little did we know, the rain wasn’t quite finished yet. Right when we got to our location, the rain started to dump again.
Just our luck!
Paige and Nate were so easy to talk with that we instantly just started up a conversation underneath our umbrellas as we waited. We were standing under some huge pine trees because we thought they would give us the best coverage from the rain, but the joke was on us. After about 5-10 minutes, I decided to go and just see how the rain was doing. I was hoping to find a spot that we could start shooting at, even if it was still coming down. Right as I walked out of the coverage from the pines, I realized that we had been standing for probably longer than we needed to. The skies had cleared up, and there was no rain except for where we were standing. The pines we’re just dripping water from their leaves, but to us, it seemed like it was still pouring.
Joke was on us!
We literally started cracking up laughing! If I hadn’t walked out there, we probably would’ve been standing there for way longer, thinking that it was still raining. Honestly, we probably could have anyway because the conversation was just so easy with the two of them. It felt as if we were old friends who happened to run into each other at the park, just catching up on everything going on in our lives. Even once the session was over, we stood in the parking lot for an extra 10-15 minutes just talk about wedding planning, jobs, and family! It was exactly what I needed to end my weekend. 🙂 The only reason we stopped at fifteen minutes was because the rain decided to dump again, and we all sprinted to our cars before we got soaked for a second time!
Can you say perfect timing?!
Paige and Nate, thank you so much for choosing me to be your wedding photographer! You two bring such a light and sense of happiness in everything you do! I absolutely loved getting to know you at your engagement session! Based off of these photos, I absolutely can’t wait for your wedding at St. Ignatius and the Water’s Edge next year. Let’s just hope for a little less rain this time!
XOXO ~ Heather Marie
